Organizations working to create a fair society

Like any other civil and human right organization, the Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund was formed to stand for the civil and human rights of the immigrants. When the two reporters, Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin, were arrested by Sheriff Joe Arpaio it ended up in a court case.

The case was on the grounds that they had been wrongly arrested for reporting. After a long and detailed lawsuit, they emerged the winners and were given a sum of over 3 million dollars as a settlement.

The duo, Michael and Jim, decided to invest the money in a company that stood up for the rights of the immigrants in their society.

They began the Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund. The Frontera Fund has so far benefited various organizations that stand for freedom of speech, human and civil right among others. The Frontera Fund has helped earn freedom for wrongfully arrested immigrants and stood for the fight against the deportation of immigrants in various capacities through different organizations.

DACA, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, is an organization that has come up with a two-year program to support immigrants earn a decent education and get jobs in the United States. The immigrants need to have entered the country when they were below 16 years and had the necessary minimum requirements to avoid deportation. DACA has assisted thousands of immigrants to sustain themselves and benefit the economy of the country as a whole through the paperwork they offer. Recently, DACA has faced the risk of being shut down permanently by the Trump government.

The DACA members and other external supporters have joined hands in fighting for the residency of the immigrants who qualify to stay in the United States. This will be a permanent solution to the mistreated and threatened DACA beneficiaries. Read more: Village Voice Media | Wikipedia

Faith-based organizations have also joined hands in supporting the civil and human rights of immigrants. A good example of such an organization is the Arizona Ministry. This organization is located at the Arizona south camp and focuses on providing water, food, shelter and catering to health needs of the migrants in this location.

As they interact with the immigrants, they listen to their frustrations and act as the voice that reports, abuse of any kind towards the migrants, to the local authorities. The Ministry also took up the role of following up on damages or losses of any property when the immigrants are been arrested.

Forums such as Borderline Issue Chair work on creating awareness of civil, human and migrant rights in schools and institutions. They make sure that they are vocally enlightening others about these rights. Furthermore, they focus on making relevant material that talks about these rights accessible in the schools and institutions.

Whether it is discrimination, abuse or profiling, they make sure you know the information relating to the issue. Awareness of matters surrounding the subject of equity are key and need to be well taught to ensure that people of all races and social classes are treated fairly.
